Pünktlich zum 20jährigen Jubiläum der Band gibt es von Virgin (EMI Music) eine Wiederveröffentlichung von "Battalions Of Fear", "Follow The Blind", "Tales From The Twilight World", "Somewhere Far Beyond", "Tokyo Tales", „Imaginatins From The Other Side", "The Forgotten Tales" sowie "Nightfall In Middle Earth" unte dem Namen "The Remasters".
Zu den Scheiben selbst brauche ich wohl nix zu sagen, zählen sie doch mittlerweile zu den Klassikern im Metal-Bereich, mit denen viele von uns (ich selbst auch) aufwuchsen. Songs wie "Traveller In Time", "Journey Through The Dark", "The Bard’s Song" oder "Imaginations From The Other Side" sind bereits Kult unter den Anhängern der Metal-Barden. Bleibt nur zu erwähnen, dass die ersten beiden Alben komplett neu abgemischt wurden und somit einen kraftvolleren Sound als die alten Scheiben haben. Fast alle Re-releases wurden mit Bonus-Tracks versehen, meistens Demo-Versionen, "Forgotten Tales" sogar mit 2 Videos.
Den Sinn dieser Re-Releases sehe ich allerdings nicht. Klar, es gibt ein Band-Jubiläum, aber wer ein echter Blind Guardian-Fan ist, hat die Sachen eh schon im Regal stehen und wird sich wohl kaum wegen einer Demo-Version die neueren Ausgaben kaufen. Einzig wer seine Sammlung komplettieren will oder noch die LP-Versionen hat, profitiert davon sich die noch fehlenden Silberlinge in der Neuauflage 2007 ins Regal zu stellen.
