Zum Abschluß der großen Phil Collins-Take A Look At Me Now-Retrospektive präsentiert der Künstler zum 10. Juni 2016 sein Erfolgsalbum '… But Seriously' und eine überarbeitete Fassung seines jüngsten Studioalbums 'The Essential Going Back'.
Von 'The Essential Going Back' stammt auch der bisher unveröffentlichte Live-Track "(Love Is Like A) Heatwave", einer Edward Holland Jr, Lemont Dozier & Brian Holland-Komposition.
Zum leicht reduzierten Tracklisting der remasterten Version erklärt COLLINS: "Ich entschied mich, dieser neuen Version von 'Going Back' den Titel 'The Essential Going Back' zu geben. In der Rückschau stellte ich fest, dass ich zu viel Musik auf der Original-Version zusammengebracht hatte. Aber ich denke, dass zu viel nicht immer gut ist, daher diese etwas zurechtgestutzte Version meiner Lieblings-Motown-Songs."
Wie bereits die bisherigen Alben der Retrospective-Serie, wurden auch '…But Seriously' und 'The Essential Going Back' mit einer zweiten Disc ausgestattet, die zusätzliche Demos, Live-Aufnahmen und B-Seiten präsentiert. Sie erscheinen jeweils als Doppel-CD im Digipak und in digitalen Versionen, die das remasterte Album und das zusätzliche Material enthalten, aber auch als audiophiles 180 Gramm-Vinyl, das ausschließlich das remasterte Album enthält.
Aufgrund der schönen Aufmachung und des tollen Bonusmaterials sind beide Deluxe Editons ohne wenn und aber eine lohnende Anschaffung für alle Anhänger des britischen Ausnahmemusikers Phil Collins.
